Valentine's Day

Writer's picture: A. MacDonaldA. MacDonald

This day will be very difficult for me as these holidays are a brutal reminder of losing my love. Today, however, I thought it would be nice to share the memory of our first valentines day together.

We had only been dating for about a month and I had made a random comment about how I really wanted some fazoli's. Randy had never been to Fazoli's and knew nothing about them. He asked where the closest one was and I told him it was in Florence, Kentucky. Randy decided to take me there for Valentine's Day. Randy showed up in a button down and a tie. I was a little surprised but also knew that this was our Valentine's Day date so he wanted to look nice. We drove out to Florence and we arrived. We went inside and Randy was looking at the menu with a dumbfounded look. He tells me that he thought that Fazoli's was like an Olive Garden but instead, it's like a fast food Italian restaurant. I laughed. It was funny. He expected something completely different.

Randy had ordered spaghetti and meatballs and I ordered what I always do which is chicken Alfredo. I ordered garlic butter because I dunk the garlic breadsticks in it. If you have not tried this, DO IT!

Randy LOVED Fazoli's. We ate there a few times throughout our time together and if I was there with my mom while he was at work, I always brought some home for him. He really loved it. It was a very memorable date and it's a very fond memory for me.

When we arrived back to my house, I invited him in and we played the card game "Mentally Stimulate Me" by Derrick Jaxn. We loved that game. We played numerous times but this was our first time playing it together.

This was a very good day and I will miss days like this together.
