Church

I met Randy on Christian Mingle. Our entire foundation of our relationship circled around our faith. We learned and leaned on each other as we grew as a couple and in faith.

Upon learning of Randy's diagnosis, I broke down one night and I told him that if I lost him, I would never go back to church because I wouldn't be able to forgive it. And although my husband understood why I was saying this, I know it broke his heart. I could see it on his face.

This past year has been incredibly difficult for me to function at all and my faith is undoubtably shaken due to both his illness and his death. It is solely because of the people around me that I continued to attend church and work within the church. To those of you, you know who you are and I thank you. I know Randy thanks you.

I say this because of what we have faced in the past year. My church shut down in March of 2020 and I have not been to an in-person service since then. And I will be perfectly honest, I dont understand the logic in churches being open. I don't understand why any church leader would want to open their doors to infect the congregation that can lead to the death of its members. But it's not just their own members when those members go out into the world to infect others! WHY? Haven't we proven in this past year that the church resides within the members instead of the building? Haven't we proven that it is the most loving thing to do that we distance ourselves? Don't people understand that we isolate now so that when we gather, no one is missing?

I am so heartbroken by the continued videos I see of mass gatherings at church functions as if this is what we should be doing. This is not leading by example and it's not loving. It's not kind to infect others with a deadly virus.

We are far worse off now than we were in March when the world shut down but people are acting as if everything is fine. Nothing is fine. The entire world has a pause button except the USA. We are the only country that refuses to save its citizens. And what kind of church do we claim to be if we kill its members? It's literally killing His nation. And we can't bring in new members if our members are dead. So what are these churches hoping to gain by holding these services?

I would love to get back to church with my church family. I would love to have a shred of normalcy but we cannot get there until people learn to social distance, wear a mask, stay home and a willingness to take the vaccine.

Yes, I am unbelievably frustrated at the fact that we can't have any normalcy but I am far more infuriated with others that refuse to do anything to save the lives of others. The mass gatherings are appalling especially when you are doing it in His name as if it makes it right.

So not that I think that this message will make a different but if you are one that is attending an in-person service, my question to you is, what message do you think you're sending? What is it that you are hoping to gain? Are you okay with killing others for it? Are you okay with killing yourself for it? But most importantly, what do you think Jesus would think of it all? Do you think Jesus would be pleased with you for going or spreading covid further?

I am grateful for my church that has continued to keep our members safe. I appreciate their continued efforts during this covid crisis. I just wish other churches did the same.

All I am asking is for you to consider how this is seen to others and to Him.
