2 years

Writer's picture: A. MacDonaldA. MacDonald

Today should have been a day where I would be celebrating 2 years together with my husband. Instead, it's a harsh reality that it is 2 months without him.

I met my husband through Christian Mingle. Our first date was supposed to take place at El Rancho Grande but I had a shaving accident and he graciously accepted my invitation to have our date in my home instead. Sure, that sounds super dangerous because I had not actually met this man before but I also had my sister in law watching us through my ADT camera. Randy and I ordered Chinese food and watched the movie christian mingle. I knew that this Chinese restaurant was cash only but Randy had no way of knowing that. When he told his friends that I paid for dinner, they told him that he wouldn't have a second date. That was far from the truth. I was not a girl that Randy was accustomed to dating because I was willing to equally pay for our dates. The financial burden shouldn't be laid upon the man.

Last year, we recreated our first date. We stayed in, ordered the same Chinese food and watched Christian Mingle. I even wore the same outfit I wore on our first date.

This year, I am without my beloved husband. We don't get to celebrate 2 years together.

I'm always thinking about you, Randy. I will always love you. I will always miss you.
